NIA โดย Chiangmai&Co ร่วมเป็นเครือข่าย จัดกิจกรรมการแข่งขัน SMOGATHON THAILAND 2020 ร่วมกับ US Embassy Bangkok / U.S. Consulate General Chiang Mai Thailand / USAID Asia / NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration / Asian Disaster Preparedness Center/ Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative ณ Chiangmai&Co ระหว่างวันที่ 8 - 10 กุมภาพันธ์ 2563

ด้วยความมุ่งมั่นให้เยาวชนคนรุ่นใหม่ รวมถึงผู้สนใจทั้งชาวไทยและต่างชาติ ที่มีเป้าหมายในการแก้ปัญหาเรื่องเดียวกัน แต่อาจมีทักษะความถนัดต่างกัน มาจากหลายสาขาอาชีพ ทั้งนักเรียน อาจารย์ นักประดิษฐ์ นักธุรกิจ หรือนักพัฒนาสังคม มารวมพลังความสร้างสรรค์ คินค้นนวัตกรรม แก้ไขปัญหาหมอกควันภายใน 48 ชั่วโมง!! โดยทีมที่ชนะจะมีโอกาสต่อยอดพัฒนาโครงการ ภายใต้การสนับสนุนและให้คำปรึกษาจากหน่วยงานในเครือข่ายต่อไป

ซึ่งภายในงานมีการบรรยายความรู้จากองค์กรที่มีชื่อเสียงมากมาย ได้แก่ NIA, NASA, GISTDA, สถานกงสุลใหญ่สหรัฐฯ เชียงใหม่, กรมควบคุมมลพิษ และมหาวิทยาลัยเทคโนโลยีราชมงคลล้านนา เชียงราย อีกทั้งผู้ร่วมกิจกรรมยังได้ทดลองใช้เครื่องมือตรวจสอบ และพยากรณ์คุณภาพอากาศผ่านดาวเทียมที่สร้างขึ้นโดยโครงการ SERVIR- แม่น้ำโขงของ USAID-NASA

จากผู้เข้าร่วมกิจกรรมกว่า 80 คน เราได้ 12 ทีม มาเข้าร่วม Pitching ต่อคณะกรรมการจากหน่วยงานภาครัฐและเอกชน รวมถึงนักลงทุนที่สนใจ และทีมที่ชนะได้แก่ No grant SMOG ซึ่งได้นำเสนอการออกแบบสื่อการเรียนรู้ในรูปแบบหนังสือการ์ตูน และ Board game ที่สอดแทรกเนื้อหาเกี่ยวกับการเกิดฝุ่นควัน และการป้องกันตัวจากฝุ่นควัน ให้กับกลุ่มเด็กนักเรียนชั้นประถม เพื่อสร้างความรู้ความเข้าใจ และปลูกจิตสำนึกให้ใส่ใจต่อปัญหาฝุ่นควันมากขึ้น เพราะเด็กนักเรียนเป็นกลุ่มที่สามารถปลุกจิตสำนึกได้ง่าย และสามารถเป็นตัวกลางในการเผยแพร่ข้อมูลข่าวสารสู่ครอบครัว และยกระดับเป็นหมู่บ้าน เป็นตำบล อำเภอ ต่อไป

ซึ่งทุกทีมที่เข้าร่วมแข่งขันมีแนวทางที่จะพัฒนาต้นแบบต่อไป ให้เกิดเป็นนวัตกรรมที่จะช่วยแก้ไขปัญหามลพิษทางอากาศในภาคเหนือ ทั้งทางตรงและทางอ้อม ดังเช่น ทีมจองเบิร์น (Jong Burn) ผู้ชนะการแข่งขันของปีที่ผ่านมา ได้สร้างแพลตฟอร์มช่วยจัดการการเผาในพื้นที่เพาะปลูกอย่างเป็นระบบ เพื่อช่วยลดมลพิษที่อาจพัดผ่านมาบริเวณพื้นที่อยู่อาศัย ซึ่งถือเป็นนวัตกรรมเพื่อสังคมที่ช่วยแก้ปัญหาให้ประชาชนได้จริง ๆ

Building the power of the people to solve the smog problem in 48 hours!!

NIA by Chiangmai & Co joined force with the US Embassy Bangkok / US Consulate General Chiang Mai Thailand / USAID Asia / NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration / Asian Disaster Preparedness Center / Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative to organize SMOGATHON THAILAND 2020 at Chiangmai & Co between 8-10 February 2020.

We aimed to encourage the young generation and Thai or foreigners who interested to creatively develop innovations to solve the smog problem within 48 hours!! The team might have different skills or come from different fields such as students, teachers, inventors, business people or social developers, but they had the same goal to solve the social problem. The winning team will have the opportunity to further develop the project with the support and consultation from agencies in the network.

At the event, there were panels from a lot of famous organizations including NIA, NASA, GISTDA, US Consulate General Chiang Mai, Pollution Control Department, and Rajamangala University of Technology Lanna, Chiang Rai. Also, participants also had a chance to use the inspection tools and forecast air quality via satellites created by the SERVIR-Mekong River project of USAID-NASA.

From over 80 participants, we got 12 teams to pitch to the organizations and VCs. And the winning team was ‘No grant SMOG’ who designed instructional media for elementary school children in the form of comic books and board games that include content related to smog problem in order to create knowledge and understanding about the issue. With a hope that that young children could spread the information to the family and the society.

For the next step, every team will further develop a prototype to be social innovation that can solve the air pollution problems in the north directly and indirectly. For example, the Jong Burn team, who won last year's competition, have created a system to help manage fires in the harvesting system to help reduce pollution that may blow past residential areas.

NIA in collaboration with the ARISTO Group aim at building Chiangmai&Co to be a Chiangmai Startup Valley. This place would be a global hub for people who want to start an innovative business for both Thai and foreigners. And, we intend to provide one stop service through Networking activities, Knowledge Management and Business Service. We also focus on building partnerships with public and private sectors in the area in order to create a suitable ecosystem for the startup business.
